Becca Levy Fan Art

5/14/13- This is the last week of the internship. I forgot my laptop charger today, so when my computer died I went home and continued to collect lead and create fan art for Becca Levy.  I researched companies in Waltham, MA, collecting 30.

Drunk Driving Poster

5/8/13- Today, I collected 33 leads for the day.  After lunch I created a poster for Drunk Driving campaign to get people to stop and think before they drive drunk.  It starts with a question about the images and if they choose both to decide not to drive.

Poster Series Update

5/1/13- Today I started the day researching companies for On Point, collecting 31.  Then after lunch I found articles for Stop Drunk Driving Now and Buzz on Bullying, writing a summary.  I started a new poster for my Poster Series on Bullying.  The concept is to have rain/tear drops come drop and turn into blood downs, showing that bullying hurts.  I am still deciding on the layout of the poster and what text I should put in.

Social Media ADs Finals

4/30/13- Today, I collected 42 leads in Somerville, Ma for On Point, one of my best numbers lately.  While eating lunch Ron was talking about the basketball player who came out gay this week.  Then started talking about Rocky Marciano, wrestler from MA, and could not believe I did not know who he was. Then after lunch I continued to find articles for 2 blog and write a summary of them, so Amanda can use them for Right Now against bullying and Stop Drunk Driving Now blogs.  Then after finding an article for Right Now Blog, I decided to make an Ad for the blog which I then sent Amanda before leaving.  The concept was to attract the eye with the image of grave stone, showing what bullying can in end.  I also finished the Ad for Buzz on Bullying Blog.

One Night Stand

4/24/13- Today, I found 39 companies in Boston, Ma for On Point.  Then after lunch I worked making a flower for the Social Media Ad and still need to finish it.  I sent bands a message on Revernation about seeing if they wanted to pay to play in the One Night Stand event.  It seemed to be working and had no problems with the amount I was sending out for the day.

Research

4/23/13- Today I was running late and therefore only collected 13 leads.  Then after lunch all the interns were assigned a research assignment on collecting band for One Night Stand.  I was trying to find how we could not get block from Facebook by sending messages to the band.  One of the ways I found was to have more friends then the messages you are sending out and to spread the messages over the course of the day.   Then I found some other helpful hints and some sites to get more band then the ones we have.  After researching I moved on to working on Social Media Ad for Biz Buzz Blog. The concept is to create flowers and have the bee biz to the flowers and have text saying “learn how to grow your business”.

Social Media Ads

4/18/13- Today I collected 40 leads in MA for On Point.  Then I worked on creating an Ad for Rock Report blog.  The idea was to use circles, creating a feeling of music coming from the speakers, and the same font used in the logo.  The Ad will be used on Facebook to drive more traffic to the blog.

One Night Stand- band contact

4/16/13- Today, I collected 39 companies in Mass for On Point.  Then after lunch I started sending the bands I collected in the past week.  First we started to send the ones with emails first, which was successful.  Then we started to send messages on Facebook, but we got blocked because we had multiple users sending messages at once.  Tomorrow we are going to start to have one person send on Facebook in a slow manner.  After that we tried to send using Reverbnation, but you had to become a fan to message them and there is a 140 character limit.  Amanda told us to hold off until they revised the letter.   I sent 22 emails, request to become a fan on Revernation, and 3 facebook messages.  The band that reply and are chosen will be used in the anti-bully concert series, One Night Stand. The sales team will response to the band and chose the ones to be featured.

Marketing Becca Levy Music Video

4/9/13- Today, we came up with ideas to marketing Becca Levy’s anti-bullying video.  I did this my making my status on Facebook to watch Becca’s new video.  It got one like, comment, and a share. Also on Facebook I went to 10 anti-bullying organizations to post the video on their page.  I sent out a tweet to my followers to check out the videos and sent one to an anti-bullying organization.  Becca sings Coldplay’s Fix You, so I found the Facebook pages of the member except the lead signer and post a comment to see their song being sung by Becca Levy.  Hopefully they see it on their page and click to see then tweet it themselves.  Then started to look for blog where I could post the video as well.  I also collected 26 companies in Mass for On Point.

Elephant Walk Photoshoot

4/10/13- Today, was different then every other day because I got to go on a photoshoot with Jenny the Photographer and Graphic Designer for On Point.  Our client is the Elephant Walk which has three locations and all with different décor.  First off was going to the Cambridge location where we met with some of the owners, managers, chiefs, cooks, and waiters of the restaurant.  Jenny was taking photos of the façade, interiors dining rooms, the cookbook, and the food which the chiefs where preparing as the other shots where being taken.  The food smelled and looked so good, we both wanted to eat all of it, as the chiefs where preparing the food Jenny also took photos of them in action.  I was assisting Jenny with writing down the dishes and the order in which she photographed them.  Also I helped with switched out the food and bring the items to different locates to shot.  After the foods had their close ups Jenny then used them in the live action shots in the dining rooms with models/customers. She also had them drinking at the bar area to show what it would be like.  As Jenny was taking these shots I was breaking down the equipment used to take the close up of the food.

Then with everything packed up we went to the next location in Boston.  There we took the same shots of the façade, interiors, chiefs, and live action shots of cooks.  Here we got to taste some of the food, I order Jus de Boeuf, which was so good and filled me right up.
The interior of this place was brighter and more open then the first location which was more dark pink, red, and purple wall giving it a more Indian feel with the elephants.

After finishing in Boston we travel to the Waltham location which was very different then the other locations.  In that the menu had a few different items and different interior as well.  The interior was more retro looking then the others.  The cool items displayed where the lights made of metal, an art piece of there own, and the pictures of life in Cambodian.  Jenny took some live action shots of the cooks, close ups of the dishes, and pictures of the owners and managers.

The highlights of the trip where seeing all the different art displayed at the locations and the food.  Also seeing the different statues and ways in which they display elephant throughout the restaurants.  The people we met where so kind to let us into their kitchens.

4/4/13- Today, I researched 34 companies in North Andover, MA.  This will be used for On Point to gain more clients.  Then after lunch I continued to work on Social Media Ads.  I finished the two I was working on, which is attached here. Amanda wanted us to move on to making fan art for Jayna Liniger.  I came up with an idea to have spirals and her name come out from behind her in one of the photos I found of her.

Becca Levy update

4/3/13- Today I collected 32 leads which helps improves clients for On Point.  Then we had an intern meeting to discuss how to drive traffic to Becca Levy’s videos on YouTube.  One of them was to insert it into our blogs and spread the word.  Becca’s videos were made by the staff.  They are about anti-bullying and how Becca is taking a stand against bullying. After lunch I continue to work on the social media Ads.  I finished a draft of one and still need to add the logo (was not sure which logo to use).  Then I moved on to create another ad for another blog.  This one is on Drunk Driving and started to draw the car that I will have run into a tree.

On Point client project

3/27/13- Today, I collected 27 leads, which is not one of my best, in cities in Mass.  Then Ron called me into his office to give me a project to do.  The project was to look up allergy APPs for research into creating one for an allergy doctor.  From there I went to ITunes and search allergy APPs to come up with a list of what was out there.  Then I composed a list of what I thought should be in the APP to make it successful.  I liked doing this project; it gave me a chance to work on an On Point Media client project.  Then I continue to research bands in KY for One Night Stand Project.

Fun Snow Day

3/07/2013- Today, it was snowing out and I was not sure if I was going to go. But it was Becca Levy’s last day and the snow was not too bad.  I was glad I went because the Slush King came for a photo shoot and gave us a free slush.  I got blue raspberry, so good, which gave me blue lips. Becca discover the coconut Girl Scout cookies and tried the slush, but rather eat the cookies. I research companies for On Point the whole time, collecting 56 leads.  We left early to make it home with out hit traffic.  All and all it was a fun day.

3/05/13
Today was different then the others days because Becca Levy came to do 5 videos that will be on Indiegogo and Kick Starter.  I have fun meeting with her and descending what we where going to shoot and what the script would be.  Becca has a lot of energy and was cool to be behind the scenes with her making the video.  She is a teenager at heart, she was talking about all her favorite bands and how she did not bring an extra bandaged bracelet for Ron to have (all the ones she brought she loved).   Every now and then Becca would sing a line from her favorite songs.  Then on the spear time I collected 14 leads (companies) for On Point.

2/27/2013

2/27/2013
Today, I learned a new way of doing leads with using Google Maps.  I start off with a business and divide the categories by same, similar, or neighbors to put other companies in the area.  With this I collected 22 companies in the area of Billerica, MA.  I think this is an easier way to collect because Google has a lot of the sites listed and you just have to click them to find contact information, still only collecting if they have emails.  I made a list of what I did so far in the internship, being half way through, which I will add describe words to put on my resume.  I looked at the One Night Stand site, that is in the works, to give corrects to Amanda.  I found one spelling mistake, Logo color to dark for other page then home page, and some align issues.  Then for the rest of the day I worked on collecting ALL contacts for Salem High School which have the whole school.

It is still a rough draft and might change the image, not sure what I want though.  We were given a new project to find all the contacts for Middle and High schools for towns in Massachusetts. This will be used for Becca Levy Tour of schools with anti-bullying campaign.  I collected 6 schools in Salem, MA for the day.

2/20/13

2/20/13-
Today, I researched 25 companies for On Point media for future clients. Then I moved on to finish a Media List for all media outlet in Maine including newspapers, magazine, radio and TV, doing college as well.  In the end I collected 11 college magazines with 15 contacts for the day.  I continue to work on Anti-Bullying Poster on Esente by cropping 1 of 5 green matches to fit with the quote of one out of four is bullying.

As a group we looked at Kickstarter to see if we could use it to get funding for concert tour with Becca Levy to promote Anti- Bullying Campaign. In the end they do not want charity projects as they want a end product, something the consumer can buy. This is what we found:

Kickstarter takes 5% of what is made
It cannot be used to fund charity projects or causes
$25 common pledge and average $71
Average project ask for 5,000

A project has a clear goal, like making an album, a book, or a work of art. A project will eventually be completed, and something will be produced by it. A project is not open-ended. Starting a business, for example, does not qualify as a project.

Examples of prohibited use include raising money for the Red Cross, funding an awareness campaign, funding a scholarship, or promoting the donation of funds raised, or future profits, to a charity or cause.

Everything on Kickstarter must also be a project. A project has a clear goal, like making an album, a book, or a work of art. A project will eventually be completed, and something will be produced by it.

Kickstarter cannot be used as seen above. It has to be something produced and made to make it a project.

Then we went on to Music Think Tank to look at articles on crowdfunding. We split the articles up and this is what I found:

Avoid- Lack of a Purpose Worth Backing

With music Kickstarter projects, you are relying 99% on your existing personal connections.

You need to send personal emails, engage in face-to-face communication, and tell people exactly what you need them to do.

If a backer is willing to show you their support at the $35 level but you jump from a $20 package to a $50 package, you’re loosing out on potential dollars because they’ll settle for the $20 package.

Kickstarter is more of a vehicle for you to work with your existing fans, not a platform for you to find new ones.

Promote- A large part of our success was having an army of fans, sponsors, promoters, people in the media, and especially other artists who were happy to tweet/share/post the link and encourage people do donate.

Perks- People are willing to give more if they are able to get something exclusive, unique, fun. If you have other skills, bring them into this. Can you cook? Offer the chance for a private party and cook your fans some dinner. Can you paint? Have some rare canvas pieces. You get the idea.

Twitter- For example, I use Twitter often. For the campaign, I created a hash tag trend and posted an update every single time someone made a pledge. I looked up Twitter names of people who pledged and tagged them, began conversations about it. Fans started tweeting celebrities, actors, bands, media contacts, etc. asking them to RT our link.

What I learned is that crowd funding success is what you put into it.  From promoting it with your connections and through social media to what you offer as perks.

Gig funder will not work because it is for the fans and artist to connect, not a whole campaign tour.

Matthew Leone, bass player for the Chicago based band Madina Lake wad beating after trying to save his neighbor (women) from being beating from her husband.  This inspired a fund to Matthew’s recovery.  This was done by Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.  I urge you to come and make a donation to this hero.

I learned that you not only have to have a good cause, but the cause has to do something in return (as seen above).  Sweet Relief Musicians Fund is a good site for a cause, but is only for a disease cause like cancer and to help musicians in need.  Not for a charity concert for anti-bullying.

2/19/12

2/19/12- Today I worked on my Anti-Bully Poster from Esente.  I made some corrections to the quote (text) including changing the size and writing out the word One.  Then the picture did not match the quote because there was 1 and every 5th match lit.  To fix this I went into Photoshop and erased the extra match to make it 1 in 4 on the red version.  I still have to change the green image as well.  I continued with researching companies for On Point Media in Insurance in Cambridge, MA.  I collected 22 companies, some of the companies were hard to find.  Then I collected 6 college magazines with 10 contacts for Maine media list.  I am almost done with the whole state of Maine for media outlets and think I will finish tomorrow.

2/13/13

2/13/12 Today, the collecting of companies was harder to find information on lawyers from Brookline and found 20 companies for 2 hrs instead of 1 and half.  I almost finish the radio stations with collecting 7 more stations and 25 emails.  Then Ron called a group of interns in to start working on One Night Stand Project.  Our duty is to find out what people are saying about play to pay in music.  Also to find a solution on how prevent people from saying One Nigh Stand is a scam.  I found out that musicians do not like pay to play because they have to pay and find people to sell tickets to.  They want to play for money instead of paying to play.  Some think it hurts the band’s reputation in showing that they are not good enough to play a real show and they are desperate.  But the event is not just pay to play it is to stop bullying and helps promote the band that would not get exposure otherwise.  Some think battle of the band is a scam because it does not hold up to all that it promises to give to the band.  One Night Stand guarantees the band exposure on the event’s site, bands name in promotion material, and to play with 4 others to prevent bullying.

2/12/13

2/12/13 Today, I researched and gathered 30 Financial Companies in Boston, which is one of my best numbers for an hour and half.  Then I found more radio stations for the state of Maine, which will be used to send out news on Esente Music Group’s clients.  The final number for the day was 18 radio stations with 42 emails gathered.  After lunch I moved on to continuing the National Anthem project in which I collected more high school in the MA area that Becca Levy could sing at.

2/7/2013

2/7/13 – Today, I collected 21 companies in the Invest Finance Category for Boston, MA.  For the media list I gathered 7 newspaper and 10 Radio companies with 20 emails.  Then I worked on fixing my anti-bullying poster with corrections from the group, by changing the quote to a 1 and 5 fact.  This is because my fact I had did not communicate the idea of the poster and by changing the fact the poster will be better.   Continue on the National Anthem project with researching more high schools in MA that Becca Levy could sing at.  I am trying to get either the athletics director or events coordinator (and if they do not have any I do not add them to my list).  I am starting to gather more than the previous days because I am not researching where the National Anthem is sung at high school events.

2/6/2013

2/5/2013- I started with a new city and list of leads for On Point.  Boston, the city, and I collected 24 leads in 2 hours which shows improvement in my numbers collected from the first day.   I worked on researching more Magazine Companies in Maine for 30 minutes, collecting 4 new magazines with 7 emails and contact pages.  For the rest of the day the interns where divided into groups to find how to get Becca Levy to sing the National Anthem at events such as football games, baseball games and more events.  We had to figure out as a group who got which category to search for teams, I took High School Events.  From there I had to figure out where to start from the list of states he gave us, what teams where the best and attracted the biggest crowds. The states he wants her to perform at are DC, VA, DE, NY, NJ, Baltimore, and New England.  Then find how to contact the team or school to have her come to one of the championship game.  I decide to go with Washington DC and Virginia because I thought it would have fewer teams then the bigger states and cities.  In the end I gathered 10 schools with 23 contacts.

Drunk Driving Poster

1/31/12
Research some facts on drunk driving to put on the poster.  I changed the layout of the Drunk Driving Poster (with the caution tape) to a horizontal layout with the tape going across the bottom.  I found an image that I had of a crowd looking at lights and thought it looked like an accident scene (which is what I wanted) and edited it in Photoshop.  Then I put the tape on opacity so it was not the main focus of the poster.  When adding the text I found it hard to choose which font to use and did many verses of the poster.  One poster idea just had the words Think When Driving and the other a fact on drunk driving.  For my second drunk driving poster I had a different concept.  The concept was to show a blurred image against a in-focus image of the same thing meaning that if both are blurred you should not drive. I might can the wording to reflect the poster’s concept more.  Continued to collect (26) leads from Salem, MA for On Point Media.  Then I worked on media list with collecting 41 emails and contact pages for Magazine, Newspaper, TV, and Radio in Maine.

1/30/13 I continued to collect 19 more leads for professional service companies in the Salem, Ma area.  Then gather 11 news & radio stations, 10 newspaper & magazines, and 28 emails from these 21 for Media List of Maine.  This will be used in the future to send news on artist from Esente.  At the intern meeting we discussed further projects that each will contribute.  One of the projects is called One Nigh Stand where we give bands tickets to play at a club with 4 others for anti-bully concert series.  We all will help get the bands, find a venue, promote the concert, and plan other material that is needed.  Then I continued to work on my anti-bully poster with suggestion from Amanda, I changed the color of the matches to red and cut the background in between the matches.  I took the changed photo and placed in the poster layout.  I also changed the background color to blue so the red could show up.    With the blue background I also try putting the original image and the filter green match image to see which one looked the best.
